Services
New Jersey Holistic Health Services has been in business since 1990 and is based on Joachim Becker's vision to provide alternative health and wellness services to both private and corporate clients.
Joachim is a New Jersey and New York State Licensed Massage Therapist, a graduate of the Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences, and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. He is a Reiki and Chi Gong practitioner, a Labyrinth facilitator, a teacher of the Native American Flute and a drum circle facilitator. He brings to his practice a lifetime of holistic learning, exploration and study in many forms of the healing arts.
Joachim's interest in health and wellness already started at a young age. As a member of the "Deutscher Turner Bund" in Germany, he studied and trained to be a gymnast under the tutelage of Hans Steingötter, who taught in the tradition of "Turnvater Jahn" - Father of Gymnastics" .
Joachim led gymnastic exercise and wellness classes for children and young adults as a volunteer instructor of the "Turn und Fecht Club Kaiserslautern" (now Turn und Funsport Club) In High school he often was asked to lead the practice session for the gymnastic team, while everyone else was busy on the soccer field. Already then Joachim took interest in Yoga and began to study and explore it as an adjunct practice and eventually integrated various yoga routines into his sessions.
1987 Joachim was certified as a Reiki practitioner of the official Reiki Program developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
Joachim continued his exploration into the world of health and wellness as a student of Therapeutic Massage and graduated from the Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences in 1989.
He currently holds a Massage Therapy license in the state of New York and New Jersey and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Through his business "New Jersey Holistic Health Services" he offers corporate chair massage programs, mobile spa services, classes and personal massage sessions.
In the mid 90's Joachim was introduced to the meditation and Chi Gong exercises of Falun Gong. Falun Gong or Falun Dafa was first taught publicly in Northeast China in 1992 by Li Hongzhi. It emerged toward the end of China's "qigong boom" - a period which saw the proliferation of similar practices of meditation, slow-moving exercises and regulated breathing.
During this period Joachim also learned about the Labyrinth and it's use a as a creative and spiritual tool to mindfulness, meditation, health and healing. Aligned with the the objectives of the Labyrinth Society, a worldwide initiative to re-introduce this ancient way of payer, he started the New Jersey Labyrinth Project and has been offering Labyrinth set-up services, event facilitation, and consultations.
Further explorations on the path of mindful exercise and movement led Joachim to the Chi Gong styles taught by Lee Holden/ Exercises to Heal, Dr. Nan Lu/ Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation, and other great teachers and instructors.
Joachim became aware that there were many similarities between the European Gymnastics styles that he had worked with in earlier years, and many forms of Chi Gong that have emerged form Asian countries. Today Joachim offers "Labyrinth Chi Gong" as a unique practice that integrates the form of the 7 circuit Labyrinth expressed through various of Chi Gong movements. He also is a teacher of the Native American Flute and a facilitator of drum and music circles. Through "New Jersey Holistic Health Services" he offer a great variety of alternative holistic health approaches to the challenges of modern life.
